Mentoring
DVAP is unique in that it is one of very few pro bono programs that has an attorney on staff to mentor pro bono attorneys. DVAP’s mentor attorney assists new or inexperienced attorneys on their pro bono cases. The Mentor Attorney will do everything from provide advice and form pleadings to reviewing pleadings and sitting second chair with the volunteer in court.
DVAP also has group of volunteer attorneys, specialists in their areas of practice, who have agreed to mentor other volunteer attorneys on their DVAP cases. Mentors are available for bankruptcy, benefits, consumer, employment, estate planning, family, low-income housing, landlord-tenant, and probate matters.
